Introduction to the project

Welcome to our Women Empowerment & Gender-Based Violence Prevention volunteer project in Nepal. Nepal is a country with a long history of gender inequality. Women are often discriminated against in education, employment, and politics. This project aims to empower women and girls through education, health, and economic opportunities and prevent gender-based violence to create a safe and inclusive society. As a volunteer, you will raise awareness, support, and advocate for positive change.

Statistics of Need

Nepal faces significant challenges in addressing gender-based violence, disproportionately affecting women and girls. According to recent statistics, many women experience physical, sexual, or emotional abuse. Our project seeks to address this urgent issue and create a supportive environment for survivors while promoting gender equality.

• In Nepal, 1 in 3 women have experienced physical or sexual violence from an intimate partner.
• Only 1 in 10 cases of gender-based violence are reported to the police.
